Tennessee Volunteers version of EA Sports College Football 2025 is now available – sort of

While avid Tennessee football and video game fans have been obsessed with EA Sports College Football 25 since its early release, the cover image features the wrong UT — or so the Vols would say.

Tennessee football has a solution for that.

Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers, Michigan running back Donovan Edwards and Colorado cornerback and receiver Travis Hunter grace the cover of the new video game, the first of its kind since 2013. The reboot was made possible in part by NCAA rules that allow players to monetize their name, image and likeness.

Now, the Tennessee football program is sharing a Vols version of the cover that fans can download for free. All you have to do is print out the image and slip it into the cover pouch.

The image shows a Tennessee player in an orange jersey flashing his biceps at Neyland Stadium. He is wearing number 25 to match the game’s title. The 2024 Tennessee football roster lists freshman defensive back Kaleb Beasley and redshirt freshman running back DeSean Bishop as number co-owners.

Both a PS5 and Xbox Series X version of the cover are available for download at 1tn.co/CFB25-Covers . The link will take you to a Google Drive folder where the two images are hosted.

Knox News got its hands on the game the day before its official release on July 19 and spent the day playing as Tennessee to see how the game developers had set up Neyland Stadium, which players had the highest television ratings, which teams were considered Tennessee’s rivals, and what uniforms Tennessee’s players could choose from.

The game is now available in stores and online for $69.99.

According to the USA TODAY Sports team, the “presentation of the match will amaze any gamer.”

“The details of each team and stadium are meticulous, capturing the unique traditions and grandeur of each FBS school,” USA TODAY Sports wrote in its review. “If there was any doubt that this was a ‘Madden reskin,’ the gameplay should put an end to that. It truly feels like you’re playing an updated version of NCAA Football 14.”
