Himachal Pradesh: Woman dragged by car for several metres in Mandi in daylight robbery attempt, 3 arrested after video goes viral

In a shocking incident in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district, an attempt was made to rob a girl student in broad daylight. When the assailants failed to steal her belongings, they dragged the young woman for several meters in their car. The incident took place on the Mandi-Pathankot National Highway near Aihju. Three persons were arrested after a video of the incident went viral. Three persons from Punjab, travelling in a car, tried to steal a necklace, mobile phone and bag from a girl student named Neha Verma, a 20-year-old resident of Suja Sandrahal village. The student was waiting for a bus around 3 pm on Friday when the assailants targeted her. Despite their attempts, they could not snatch her bag, which was around her neck. In their desperation, they drove the car and dragged Neha for about 20 feet before she fell on the road and sustained injuries. After the incident, the suspects headed towards Jogindernagar, where they attempted to run over a Home Guard constable and a woman on a scooter at Sai Bazaar. A Home Guard constable managed to arrest one of the suspects, but in the chaos, the assailants hit five parked vehicles and fled. They also collided with another vehicle at the approach road. Despite changing the registration number of the car to evade the police, the suspects were eventually nabbed at a police blockade in Gumma. The three persons, identified as being from Punjab, are now in police custody and are being interrogated. The injured student was taken to Baijnath Hospital for treatment.
