New Delhi, July 20: Home Minister Amit Shah today chaired a high-level meeting with various heads of security and law enforcement agencies in New Delhi to review the functioning of IB’s Multi Agency Centre (MAC), which is responsible for addressing security challenges in the country. The Home Minister, during the meeting, directed various heads of security agencies across the country and other intelligence and law enforcement agencies to adopt a whole-of-government approach to national security. He stressed on greater synergy among all agencies to dismantle terror networks and their supporting ecosystem, to address the changing scenario of the country’s security threat.

While assessing the overall internal security situation in the country and the fight against terrorism, the Minister of Interior urged all participants to enhance involvement in the Multi Agency Centre and make it a coherent platform that brings together all law enforcement agencies, anti-drug agencies, cyber security and intelligence services, in order to take decisive and swift action.

The Minister of Home Affairs stressed that MAC has earned the trust of its constituents and must continue to function 24/7 as a platform for proactive and real-time sharing of actionable information among various stakeholders, including last-minute responders.

During the meeting, the Home Minister also stressed on the need to create a team of young, technically skilled and passionate officers from all agencies involved in national security to dismantle the terror ecosystem using Big Data and AI/ML-driven analytics and technological advancements. He reiterated that in the face of new and emerging security challenges, we must always be one step ahead in our responses.

The Home Minister also informed that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the MAC framework was poised for a major technical and operational overhaul to enhance its reach and effectiveness. He urged all stakeholders to further strengthen these efforts through rapid responses and aggressive follow-up of shared inputs.
