Norfolk NHS trust promotes teamwork in parental mental health care

In Norfolk, mental health services for expectant and new parents joined forces to improve outcomes for families.

They took part in an event organised by the Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT), which brought together mental health teams from the NHS and partner organisations.

Those involved included NSFT’s clinical care department, mother and baby department, community mental health teams and the specialist Lotus Team, which focuses on trauma.

Talent Bailey, NSFT Perinatal Services Manager, said: “The last seven years have been a period of rapid development for our perinatal services in Norfolk.

“We want to make sure we get the best outcomes for these service users.”

Anthony Deery, Chief Nurse at NSFT, said: “It’s great that we are partnering with other organisations to promote safer, kinder and better working practices and ensure we are working as a system for the benefit of our service users and families.”

Melanie White, NSFT Consultant Perinatal Psychologist, added: “By networking and sharing knowledge and experience within the support services system, we can work together to provide safer, kinder and better care for babies, infants and families who need it.”
