CHENNAI A sweet scent of compassion and community spirit will fill the air once again as Tiara Kids gears up to host its 5th Charity Bake Sale. The event is not just about enjoying Chennai’s best homemade treats, but also about making a difference in the lives of underprivileged children in need of specialised healthcare.

The idea behind the Charity Bake Sale was simple: create a fundraiser that is open to everyone and showcases the talent of nearly 50 home cooks. As Aparna Guhan Shyam, CEO of Tiara Kids, says, “It’s a celebration of community, compassion and hope. By attending the event, you play a critical role in making a positive impact on these young lives.”

The organizing team, led by Tiara Kids along with dedicated volunteers and supported by donors, has worked to ensure that each bake sale outshines the last. Tiara Kids is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving children’s health. Since 2012, they have facilitated life-saving treatment access for over a thousand underprivileged families with children in need, the team shares. They started their Charity Bake Sale in 2017. Despite challenges like the temporary hiatus due to COVID-19, the team’s spirit has only grown stronger.

“This year’s Charity Bake Sale is our most unique yet,” says Sreelakshmy, Communications Officer at Tiara Kids. “We are expanding our business to support hemophilia, cancer and congenital heart disease. Enjoy a variety of delicious treats from the best local bakers,” she adds.

Visitors can expect a variety of treats: pastries, cakes, cheesecakes, brownies, candies, pies, tarts and freshly baked bread. This year, there is a special emphasis on sustainable packaging. For those who are new to the event, Aparna says, “Welcome to our family of changemakers. Together, we are creating a better future for our children. Enjoy the delicious offerings, embrace the community spirit and be proud that your support is making a big difference.” Aparna says, “Your support is not just a purchase; it is a beacon of hope for children in need. Together, we are creating a better, healthier future, one sweet treat at a time.”

The Tiara Kids team uses evidence-based strategies to address the social determinants of health, with the goal of equity in child health. Their mission is to provide financial assistance to ensure equal access to health care for all sick children. Their holistic, inclusive services are focused on improving the quality of life of children, enabling them to pursue their aspirations.

Tiara Kids invites everyone to come to The Folly at Amethyst today and tomorrow from 10am-8pm to support a great cause.
