Harvey Weinstein retrial date set amid ongoing legal battles

Harvey Weinstein’s retrial on rape and sexual assault charges begins on November 12. The former movie mogul appeared in court wearing an American flag pin. The hearing focused on evidence and his medical condition in prison.

Weinstein’s lawyers have preferred an earlier trial date. Diana Fabi Samson, one of Weinstein’s lawyers, stated that he is eager to prove his innocence. The defense also raised concerns about his health and requested that he be transferred to Bellevue Hospital for proper care.

The new trial follows the 2020 overturning of Weinstein’s conviction by the state’s highest court. He remains in prison serving a 16-year sentence in California. Prosecutors continue to pursue new claims, while Weinstein denies the allegations.
