Singapore is the safest city for tourists in the world, according to a study of travel insurance for US citizens by Advisor to Forbes.

The survey gave Singapore a score of 0 out of 100 for hazard level.

“To discover the riskiest and least risky cities for tourists, Forbes Advisor compared 60 international cities on seven key criteria… Singapore is considered the safest,” the study said.

Best Travel Security Rating from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The study found that Singapore received the highest rating for travel safety from the US State Department.

According to the study, Singapore has the lowest risk of natural disasters, the second lowest risk of healthcare, the second lowest risk of infrastructure and the second lowest risk of digital security.

The latter reflected ‘the ability for citizens to freely use the Internet without fear of privacy violations, identity theft and online attacks.’

Right behind Singapore are Tokyo, Japan, in second place and Toronto, Canada, in third place.

Meanwhile, the world’s three “riskiest” cities are Caracas, Venezuela in first place, Karachi, Pakistan in second place, and Yangon, Myanmar in third place.

Closer to home, in the region, the most dangerous cities to visit in Southeast Asia are ranked as follows:

  1. Yangon, Myanmar (3rd worldwide)
  2. Manila, Philippines (5th worldwide)
  3. Jakarta, Indonesia (11th worldwide)
  4. Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (20th worldwide)
  5. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (29th worldwide)
