EastEnders actor swims to wind farm for Brighton charity – Brighton and Hove News

EastEnders actor Will Ellis was due to take part in a swim to the Rampion wind farm off the coast of Brighton and Hove today to raise money for a local charity.

Mr Ellis, who plays Theo Hawthorne in the BBC soap, is raising money for Amaze, a charity that supports families of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

The actor has used the charity to support his non-verbal son and told the BBC he is lucky to have a profile that he can use positively.

He told the announcer: “Raising money for charity will be great. The charity has helped us a lot.”

Mr Ellis had planned to swim to the Rampion offshore wind farm, about 16 miles from Brighton beach, leaving at about 3am.

He told the BBC: “It’s a necessary evil to get up early to get it done, although I don’t expect to get much sleep the night before.

“I’m nervous, but I think that’s a good thing.

“When I start to feel pain, I think of the bigger picture.”

He added: “People find the Rampion farm an eyesore, but I think we should celebrate it.

“It is a beautiful building and produces clean energy.”

Mr Ellis hopes to swim the Channel next month.
