Sometimes our newsroom publishes stories under the heading “Pioneer Staff Report.” This heading is used when reporters rewrite simple news stories that originate from official sources, such as an email or press release that requires little or no reporting.

Other times, this byline is used when a news story has multiple authors or when the story is formed by merging previously reported news from different sources. If outside sources are used, this is noted in the story.
