Biden repeatedly reaffirms his commitment to the 2024 campaign despite calls from Democrats to step aside

Biden’s campaign has lashed out at “anonymous” sources within the Democratic Party who expressed concerns about the president’s candidacy amid ongoing questions about his physical and mental state.

Campaign spokesman Kevin Munoz highlighted Biden’s TV interviews over the past week and the support from Black women and Hispanic groups. He also drew a connection between Trump and the conservative Project 2025 agenda, which has been portrayed as a blueprint for a future Republican administration but which he has distanced himself from.

“Donald Trump and Republicans — despite claims of a ‘new tone’ — their message is the same: revenge and retaliation,” Munoz said in a memo released Friday night, highlighting why Biden should stay in the race. “Their convention was focused on bowing to Putin, mass deportation, and imposing their Project 2025 agenda on the American people.”

Biden canceled several campaign events this week after contracting COVID-19. He is isolating in Delaware. Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris is busy with campaign court.

“And as we’ve said before, President Biden is eager to get back on the campaign trail as soon as possible,” he added.

In making his case, Munoz referenced the Republican National Convention that concluded Thursday in Milwaukee.

“Attendees held signs urging ‘Mass Deportations Now’ as an architect of Trump’s brutal family separation policy took center stage during primetime in Congress,” he said.

“JD Vance, the poster child for Project 2025 extremism, was unveiled as Trump’s running mate and, by becoming Trump’s vice presidential nominee, he doubled down on a future of abortion bans, worse access to health care, and higher costs for middle-class Americans,” Munoz added.
