Where are we on the TGL timeline? Here’s a full look at the competition led by Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy

In August 2022, a new vision for golf was born.

With the support of TMRW Sports, golf legends Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy led the creation of Tomorrow’s Golf League, an interactive competition that combines the traditional sport with advanced technology in an indoor arena.

The competition in Palm Beach Gardens was originally scheduled to start in January of this year, but was postponed due to damage to the arena from a storm and a power outage in November.

The first match of the competition is just around the corner, kicking off on January 7, 2025. Follow Woods and McIlroy’s journey to tee time.

New Tiger Woods golf arena on PBSC campus in Palm Beach Gardens could be made of metal

Will Tiger Woods’ new tech golf league get a metal arena on the grounds of Palm Beach State College in Palm Beach Gardens?

The PBSC board of directors will meet soon to discuss a proposal to rebuild the indoor golf arena on the school’s campus on PGA Boulevard using prefabricated metal instead of an air-inflated dome.

The Palm Beach State College board of trustees is giving TMRW Sports permission to build a permanent arena for an interactive golf league led by stars like Tiger Woods and Rory McElroy on its Palm Beach Gardens campus, provided the company pays hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.

TGL, as the league is known, was set to begin play this year in an inflatable dome on a 3-acre site along PGA Boulevard. In November, as work on the dome was nearing completion, heavy winds and rain tore it apart, forcing TMRW Sports to alter its plans.

TGL, the interactive golf league led by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, has announced the first three dates for its inaugural season in 2025 after receiving approval from Palm Beach State College last Friday to build a permanent arena.

The league, backed by TMRW Sports, will play its first three games on the first three Tuesdays in January, with a debut on January 7. The primetime games will be televised by ESPN. The rest of the schedule has not been announced.

TGL, the interactive golf league in Palm Beach Gardens, is “full steam ahead,” according to one of its co-founders, Hall of Famer Tiger Woods.

Woods, the Jupiter Island resident, answered questions via email exclusively for The Palm Beach Post (part of the USA Today Network) about his team, Jupiter Links GC, and the league’s ability to overcome the setback of the original building’s roof collapsing in November due to a power outage and a storm. The incident forced a one-year delay to the start date.

Tiger Woods’ TGL team includes the top 10 player in the world and a rising star on the PGA Tour

Max Homa called it “a dream” to play in Tiger Woods’ group for the first two days of the Masters. When asked after Friday’s match what he’ll remember from his round, he simply said “a lot of Tiger stuff.”

Homa will now build on those memories.

Max Homa gave a short lesson on Tuesday about TGL, the interactive golf competition led by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.

And he kept coming back to one word: fun.

“It’s got to be fun,” he said. “I think you have to see it to understand it for everyone because it’s a lot bigger than playing simulator golf.”

Japanese legend Hideki Matsuyama has been announced as the fourth member of Boston Common Golf, joining Jupiter’s McIlroy, Keegan Bradley and Adam Scott. Matsuyama, ranked No. 12 in the world, replaces Tyrrell Hatton, who vacated his spot on the team after joining from LIV Golf.

How Palm Beach Gardens is Growing: Tiger Woods’ Golf Arena Towers Over PBSC Campus

On July 10, 2024, crews will break ground on the SoFi Center for the TGL indoor golf league, founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, on the grounds of Palm Beach State College in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

The indoor golf arena on the campus of Palm Beach State College in Palm Beach Gardens now towers more than 75 feet (23 meters) above the surrounding homes, buildings, passing delivery trucks and trees.

Crews have finished building the foundations of the SoFi Center. And the steel, walls and roof panels are on site. Roofing work began this month, and crews are working six days a week, 10 hours a day, according to a spokesman for TGL, the interactive golf league that will call the center home. The league is led by golf legends Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, both of whom have homes in the area.
