Lt Governor chairs high-level review meeting on security scenario in Jammu

Srinagar, July 20 (NVI):- Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today chaired a high-level meeting with the Army Chief, various security and law enforcement agencies over the security situation in Jammu region.

The meeting was attended by General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of Army Staff, Dr Nitin Agrawal DG BSF, Anish Dayal Singh DG CRPF, RRSwain DGP J&K, intelligence chiefs and other senior officials of the Army, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and J&K Police.

The Lt Governor has asked the Army, CAPFs and Jammu and Kashmir Police to proactively carry out coordinated counter-terrorism operations in Jammu Division to eradicate terrorism.

“We must conduct meticulous and well-planned counter-terrorism operations with greater synergy between all agencies to root out terrorists and those who aid and abet them,” the lieutenant governor said.

The Lt. Governor also ordered further strengthening of the security network to prevent cross-border infiltration.

It is notable that Jammu division is on heightened alert in view of recent terrorist attacks and infusion of terrorist movements into the division. (News Vibes of India)
