Kim Kardashian channels Marilyn Monroe with platinum, curled bob

There are certain Met Gala outfits – and beauty looks – that go down in the fashion hall of fame.

From Sarah Jessica Parker rocking tartan Alexander McQueen in 2006 or Rihanna rocking a bedazzled pope’s hat courtesy of Maison Margiela in 2018, these looks are pretty eternal. Then there are the shock beauty transformations – like Sydney Sweeney’s jet black bob at this year’s Met Gala.

One moment we can’t get over? When, in 2022, a new classic was born when Kim Kardashian rocked up to the Met Gala wearing the (!) very (!) same (!) dress that Marilyn Monroe wore to sing “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” to John F Kennedy at Madison Square Garden in 1962. The world was gagged, and so we were.

The nude dress, covered in rhinestones, was paired with a furry white stole and see-through pleaser heels – and Kim even dyed her hair platinum for the occasion.

Now, two years later, it seems like the moment still lives in Kim’s head rent-free, just like it does ours. The reality TV star and fashion icon has cosplayed once more as Marilyn Monroe – this time for a new ad campaign with the brand Balenciaga.

Kim rocked a retro look comprising a red wrap dress, black furry oversized coat, black socks with cheetah print heels and structured handbag – but the real winner was her hair look.

Ditching her typical long locks – which have spanned from caramel to light blonde in hue over the past few years – she rocked a platinum blonde, curled wig in what looked like an homage to the late actress of the silver screen.

The hair look came courtesy of Kim’s reg hair stylist, Chris Appleton and, as usual, he slayed!
