Secret Service officials denied Trump extra security for two years before assassination attempt, damning report finds

Secret Service officials rejected Donald Trump’s request for extra security in the two years leading up to last weekend’s assassination, a damning report revealed Saturday.

The 78-year-old former president asked for more agents and magnetometers at large public events he attended, and for snipers for outdoor locations, four insiders told The Washington Post.

Each request was rejected by senior officials who claimed the agency did not have the resources Trump requested, the outlet reported.

Trump enjoyed less protection than previous presidents and major-party presidential candidates when 20-year-old gunman Matthew Thomas Crooks opened fire at his rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday.
