2 Green Bay Packers With Most Wins in Training Camp Battle

The Green Bay Packers have parted ways with several key veterans as part of a youth movement within the roster. From future hall of famers like Aaron Rodgers and Mason Crosby to contributors like Rasul Douglas and Aaron Jones. This elimination of veterans creates opportunities for young players throughout the depth chart.

One of those positions is off-ball linebacker, and with the departure of De’Vondre Campbell, the Packers have moved their 2022 first-round pick to number one on the MLB depth chart. The number two spot is still up for grabs, and two players will have their chance to earn it in training camp.

Edgerrin Cooper was the most pro-ready MLB prospect in the 2024 talent draft. With his athleticism and chart-topping power, Cooper checks all the boxes for a modern LB. The 6’2, 230 linebacker out of Texas A&M distinguished himself from everyone else in his class with a 9.34 RAS.

Despite Cooper’s undeniable potential and skills, there is competition for the second linebacker position in a nickel defense.

Isaiah McDuffie played in over 50 percent of the defensive snaps last season and led the Green Bay Packers in tackles (86 combined). McDuffie also has a unique history with new defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, having previously played under him as head coach at Boston College.

While McDuffie has proven to be a viable threat at linebacker and special teamer, it’s hard to imagine the Green Bay Packers choosing him over the promising Cooper. Still, both men have a shot at getting meaningful snaps.
