It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our father, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather Eric Francis Summers. Born on April 27e 1936.

Dad was preceded by our mother Yvonne who passed away 7 years ago. Today they were reunited.

His loss is mourned by Roger (Donna nee Pine) and Wendy (Dan Honnor), his grandchildren Mike Hillier (Claire Sullivan), Justin Hillier (Kelly O’Reilly), Erica Summers (Jonathan Candow), Zachary Summers (Rebecca Raine) and Michael Honnor (Catherine O’Toole) and his beautiful great grandchildren Jessica, Rachael, Vincent and Faith O’Reilly Hillier, Teagan Hillier, Jacob and Noah Honnor. Also his sister Doreen (Jack Tricco), his sister-in-law Marilyn Curtis, his beloved cousin Andrea (Chris Holloway), his dear friend Claire Higdon and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and a large circle of friends.

Dad was a truck driver for nearly 50 years, he loved driving trucks but his greatest joy was his love of singing and dancing. He brought laughter and song to all who knew him. He made friends everywhere, could burst into song at a moment’s notice when asked and often when not. He could charm anyone with a rhyming Diddly. Dad’s favorite times were family dinners and weekends at the Hodge, his family and friendships meant the world to him.

We are grateful to the people at Heritage Square Retirement home and the people at Glenbrook Lodge who cared for Dad in his final days. We will miss his songs, his rhymes, his love of dancing, his Elvis impersonations and his renditions of Charlie Pride. We hope he is singing, dancing and having a glass of Lambs and catching up with Mom today.

Although our hearts are broken, we are so grateful for the 88 years of life he had.

A service will be held at St Thomas’ Church on Military Road on Saturday 20th Julye at 2pm, followed by burial at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.

A celebration of Dad’s life will follow the funeral at 19 Jesse’s Place, Flatrock with family and friends. Come toast with us and tell a story or two and maybe sing a song.

With music and friends in life and in death, forever in our hearts and always in song.
