Shark Advisory for Sovereign Park, North of Two Rocks

A shark warning has been issued due to a whale carcass on the beach just south of the Sovereign Park entrance.

On July 20, the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) reported that the whale carcass – near BEN sign WN42 Sovereign Park – had been reported by a member of the public.

According to DPIRD, it is possible that the carcass is attracting sharks that come closer to shore in the area.

Although it is not uncommon to find sharks off the coast of Western Australia year-round, people should still exercise extra caution.

According to the alert, DPIRD officials, along with staff from other agencies, are closely monitoring the situation and providing advice to the relevant authorities.
