Registration for Fall Recreation Opens August 12

County residents can register for most fall programs and activities beginning Monday, August 12 at 6:30 a.m. Registration for Bone Builders, Day Trippers and Senior Outdoor Adventures in Recreation (SOAR) begins at 9 a.m. New this fall, registration for water programs and activities begins a day later, on Tuesday, August 13 at 6:30 a.m.

Non-provincial residents can register for programs and activities beginning Thursday, August 15 at 6:30 a.m.

The county offers financial assistance to eligible residents. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found online at Rec Assist. County residents who meet program requirements can receive $400 per family member to help cover program costs.

Fall programs and activities

A wide variety of classes and programs are available that are designed to help participants stay active and have fun. Offerings include aquatic activities, fitness, sports, visual and performing arts, therapeutic recreation, programming for adults 55+ and more.

As of Friday, August 2, a digital version of the fall guide with programs and activities is available online. On the province’s website about recreation, a function is available that allows residents to compile their own guide by choosing the types and locations of programs and specifying ages.

How to register

A new waitlist feature will begin on Monday, August 12th. Participants can sign up for the waitlist for selected full-time activities. When a spot becomes available, participants will receive an email and have 48 hours to accept or decline the enrollment offer. If they do not respond in time or decline the offer, they will be removed from the waitlist.

In-person registration begins Monday, August 12 at 6:30 a.m. at the Wheaton Administrative Offices, located at 2425 Reedie Drive. On Tuesday, August 13, the office will open at 6:30 a.m. for in-person registration assistance.

Personal registration assistance is also available at all recreation facilities during regular business hours
