(Vacancy) Senior Data Analyst @MaxMind

MaxGeest (www.maxmind.nl) is looking for a talented, experienced and highly motivated Senior Data Analyst to help us develop and enhance our IP address-based data products through advanced data analytics. We help protect thousands of businesses worldwide from fraud, screen over three billion online transactions per year and provide IP intelligence data to thousands more. As a Senior Data Analyst, you will play a key role in helping to develop and maintain our products and platform.

This is a full-time remote position and we welcome candidates to apply from anywhere in Canada. You must be eligible/authorized to work in Canada.

The position

As a Senior Data Analyst, your role will be to execute both large and small analysis projects on IP-based data. You could be working on adding data-driven features to existing products, investigating and improving existing data pipelines and code, automating data analysis, and developing entirely new services. We are looking for someone with a background in data analysis who can work independently and as part of a team, can make sound technical decisions, and is comfortable with coding as part of data analysis. All applicants will be given a code-based data analysis exercise.

Our salary range for the Senior Data Analyst role starts at $115,000 CAD, with specific offers dependent on skills and experience. See more about benefits and compensation below.

About You — Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong statistical skills in data analysis and a passion for finding patterns and answering questions with large data sets.
  • Can write high quality Python for data analysis. Familiar with SQL and experience or willingness to learn Go.
  • You are comfortable using analysis notebooks such as Collab or Jupyter instead of Business Intelligence tools for data analysis.
  • Experience performing data analytics in Google Cloud or similar environments.
  • Experience in writing code and producing documentation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • The ability to work with a geographically dispersed team.
  • Desired, but not required

  • Experience with network, security or fraud issues and using IP geolocation in these use cases.
  • Experience using data analytics to create data-driven products for internal use or for sale to customers.
  • Continue to develop your data science skills.
  • An interest in picking up new programming languages. Most of our data pipeline production code is Go and Perl.
  • Contribute open source code or data analysis. Tell us about it!
  • Interested in performance, security and data privacy.
  • Experience with Postgres or other relational databases.

    Our application process

    One of the first steps in our application process is a homework assignment, and we will ask you to submit a submission so that we can gain insight into your work. The next step in our application process would be a pairing session combined with a first round technical interview with our hiring manager and another member of the data/engineering team. This interview will cover questions specific to the role. Then there would be a final interview with our COO and our HR Manager. That interview would be a more general/behavioral interview. The last step in our application process is a reference check.
