To submit an obituary, please attach the information from the obituary checklist below to an email to [email protected]. There is no option to submit them through our website. Please feel free to contact our obituary desk at 651-228-5263 if you have any questions.

General information:

• Your full name,
• Address (city, state, zip code),
• Phone number,
• And an alternative telephone number (if applicable)

Death notice specification:

• Name of the deceased,
• Death notice,
• A photo in JPEG or PDF format is preferred, TIF and other files are also accepted. We will contact you if there are any problems with the photo.
• Ad execution data
• There is a discount if you want to run more than one day. However, this discount only applies if you book it on the first day of the run.
• If you use a photo, it must be used on both days for the discount to apply. Contact us for more information.

Policy:

Verification of death:

In order to publish obituaries, a name and phone number for the funeral home/crematory society is required. We must contact the funeral home/crematory society handling the arrangements during their business hours to verify the death. If the deceased’s body was donated to the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest Program or a similar program, their phone number is required for verification.

Make sure you allow enough time to contact them, especially during their limited weekend opening hours.

A death certificate is also acceptable for this purpose, but only one of these two options is necessary.

Guestbook and external websites:

We may not reference other media sources that have a guestbook or an obituary posted elsewhere when we post an obituary in print and online. We may instead post a funeral home website or a family email address for contact; please contact us if you have any questions about this matter.

Death process:

Once your submission is complete, we will fax or email a proof for review prior to publication in the newspaper. This proof will include the price and the days the notice is scheduled to appear.

Look at the evidence carefully. We must be notified of errors or changes before the notice appears in the Pioneer Press, based on that day’s deadlines.

After publication we are not liable for errors that may occur after the last correction.

Online:

All death notices appear on TwinCities.com with a permanent online guestbook presence. If you want the online presence to be removed, you can contact us to remove the guestbook online. Changes to an online obituary can be handled through the obituary desk. Call us with further questions.

Payment procedure:

All obituaries require prepayment prior to publication by the deadline specified below in our deadline schedule. Call Us 651-228-5263 with your payment details after you have received the proof and approved its contents.

Credit card: Payments are only accepted by phone due to PCI (Payment Card Industry) regulations

EFT payment: Check by phone. Provide your routing number and account number.

Cash: Accepted by us FRONT OFFICE Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Rates:

• The minimum fee is $162 for the first 10 lines.
• Each line after the first 10 is $12.20.
• If the ad is less than 10 lines long, the minimum rate of $162 will be charged.
• In a second round, the rates are $8.20 per line, starting with the first line.
• For example, if the first run date is 20 lines, the cost is $164.
• Each photo published costs $125 per day.
• For example: 2 photos in the newspaper in 2 days means a rate of 4 photos of $500.

Unlike an obituary, Memoriam entries are reminders of a deceased loved one. The rates for a memoriam differ from obituaries.
