How Leonardo DiCaprio and Blake Lively First Met

Leonardo DiCaprio had many actors vying to play one of his love interests in the 2013 film The Great Gatsby. One of those actors was reportedly Gossip Girl star Blake Lively. While she may not have taken home the role, Lively did end up taking home the star turn of the film.

Lively was competing with some of Hollywood’s finest actors to star in the modern-day adaptation of the classic Great Gatsby. The list of actors Lively was reportedly up against included Mulligan, Keira Knightley, and Michelle Williams. Deadline once reported that Lively had lunch with DiCaprio and the film’s director, Baz Luhrmann, presumably to discuss her hypothetical role as Daisy Buchanan. Mulligan, however, proved herself the right choice for the role after performing a scene-stealing kiss with DiCaprio during her audition.
