Wendy’s Reportedly Releasing ‘SpongeBob’ Krabby Patty Burger

A beloved fictional dish could soon become a reality.

Wendy’s is reportedly introducing a Krabby Patty burger, a dish made famous by its appearance at the Krusty Krab restaurant on the Nickelodeon series “SpongeBob SquarePants.”

What appears to be an internal Wendy’s memo dated August 16 that has been leaked online has sparked conversations about the offer.

The memo states that the item would be available on October 8 in honor of the 25th anniversary of “SpongeBob SquarePants,” as part of a promotion with Paramount, owner of the franchise, that will be available to consumers in the United States, Canada and Guam.

The memo announced a Krabby Patty meal. The burger itself is described as “a premium cheeseburger featuring Wendy’s fresh, never frozen beef, topped with fresh produce and a secret Krabby Patty sauce that captures the magic of the iconic fictional sandwich for SpongeBob fans.” Unfortunately, there’s no jellyfish in sight.

As part of the meal, Wendy’s is also introducing a Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty.

“In honor of SpongeBob’s hometown, this Frosty is made with our signature Vanilla Frosty blended with pineapple-mango puree, creating a unique dessert experience for fans of all ages,” the memo reads.

The letter also alluded to the expected receipt of the meal, which would only be available until November 11.

“This is an exciting time for Wendy’s and we expect both QSR (quick service restaurant) consumers and SpongeBob fans to flock to this limited-time experience,” the memo said.

Fans, however, should keep their excitement over this Patrick Star-filled meal in check.

“While we can’t confirm what innovations Wendy’s will bring, we can say that we’re always looking for new menu items inspired by our fans’ desires,” a Wendy’s spokesperson told TODAY.com.

So we’ll just have to wait and see. Let’s hope — for Plankton’s sake — they share the recipe (cue Mr. Krab’s cackling).
