McDonald’s fans ‘boo’ over collectible Halloween buckets after ‘downgrade’ design

Yuck! McDonald’s fans are shocked by this year’s Boo Buckets, and we don’t mean in the Halloween fun way.

Instead, customers are scared and disappointed by the fast food restaurant’s new Halloween bucket design, with some fans on social media calling it a major “downgrade.”

As seen in an Instagram post shared by food news expert account @snackolator, this year’s lineup once again features four different bucket designs. Instead of four separate Halloween characters, each bucket features a slightly different variation of a yellow-eyed monster.

Unlike last year’s buckets, which featured designs like “Skeleton Orange,” “Mummy White,” “Vampire Purple,” and “Monster Green,” this year’s color options are blue, green, orange, and white, each with its own monster image on the front.

The new Boo Buckets no longer have a lid like before, but do have yellow McDonald bows on the handles. This is an alternative to last year’s handles, which matched the color of the buckets.

Snackolator posted a disclaimer in its post on Thursday, September 5, stating that McDonald’s had already revealed its 2024 lineup in another country, so there’s still a chance the design will be different for U.S. locations. However, fans are worried that this could be all McDonald’s has to offer for the Boo Buckets this year.

“These are not cute at all! I’m skipping this year,” one user wrote on Instagram, while someone else complained, “I say Boo! To these Boo buckets,”

“Yuck, downgrade. And can we get a real lid?” read another Instagram comment.

Another fan even went so far as to say that this year’s buckets are the “worst McDonalds bucket character design ever” because they seem to lack the nostalgic essence that fans know and love.

“Meh. It’s the nostalgia we want!” protested one user.

According to Snackolator, fans can expect to find the Boo Buckets at their local McDonald’s around October 14th, or a few days later.
