‘Toucher and Hardy’ Names ‘Adam 12’ Chapman Executive Producer, Dan O’Brien and Mike Lockhart Out

98.5 Boston’s Sports Hub has made more big changes to its morning drive. This time, the changes are behind the scenes and have resulted in a shakeup among the show’s producers. According to reports from Chad Finn of the Boston Globe and Boston Radio Watch, executive producer Dan O’Brien was fired Wednesday in what was portrayed as a financial move. “Adam 12” Chapman, who worked for Sports Hub owner Beasley Media Group’s 92.9 FM, has been named the show’s new executive producer.

Finn’s sources said the plan was for Mike Lockhart, whose time on the show predates 98.5, to remain on the show and work with Chapman. However, later that same day, Lockhart posted on his X account that he was choosing to leave the station.

“It is with great sadness that I announce my departure from 98.5 The Sports Hub,” Lockhart wrote. “I hope I helped create a lot of great radio for your morning commute in the city of Boston. It’s been a fun ride.”

According to Finn’s report, Lockhart was caught off guard by the whole situation, as he believed he was told the lead producer position would be his once changes were made. Finn also noted that Lockhart was fired by the company in 2022, but was reinstated shortly after after Rich Shertenlieb offered to pay his salary.

Shertenlieb eventually left the show and his place was taken by Rob ‘Hardy’ Poole.

Boston Radio Watch summarized what they heard and posted it on X:

“Some additional details about changes in production support staff at the Hub: Longtime morning show executive producer Dan O’Brien was fired yesterday. Producer Mike Lockhart was offered a promotion, who wanted to become the real executive producer, but was not offered one. Lockhart turned down the promotion and resigned. The executive producer vacancy is now being filled by former Rock 92-9 jock/PD Adam “12” Chapman. How’s that for musical chairs?”
