Dolphins star Tyreek Hill arrested by police before season opener

Just before the start of the first Sunday of the NFL season, star wide receiver Tyreek Hill was reportedly detained by police. Video shows Hill being handcuffed outside Hard Rock Stadium, just hours before the Miami Dolphins were set to open their season against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter confirmed the report that Hill was pulled over by police as he entered the stadium for a traffic violation.

According to his agent Drew Rosenhaus, Hill is likely to play today.

“I just left Tyreek and he’s getting ready to play today.”

Fortunately for Hill and the Dolphins, it wasn’t anything more serious. Having Hill on the field is huge for Miami, especially when they’re playing an AFC opponent like the Jaguars.

It is rare for a player to be stopped by police just outside a stadium, making this an unusual situation to say the least. But ultimately, disaster was averted and it looks like Hill will be taking action.

Hill has been one of the NFL’s better wide receivers in recent years and received a huge contract extension from Miami. His speed on the field and ability to get into open space has allowed the Dolphins’ offense to flourish.

Last season, Hill recorded 119 catches for 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns. It was his second straight season with 119 catches and over 1,700 yards receiving.

Along with co-star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, Hill has helped the Dolphins offense become one of the best in the entire NFL. Miami uses the speed and agility of both players to their advantage, making life extremely difficult for opposing defenses.

The Dolphins use all sorts of movement in their offensive schemes, trying to get their receivers into open space by any means necessary. They believe that if they can maximize the field, there is no defensive unit in the NFL that can slow them down.

Miami is looking to get back into the postseason this year and end their long playoff drought. They ran into the Kansas City Chiefs a year ago and were eliminated in the wild card round.

A good start to the season is paramount for Miami, so having Hill on the court makes a world of difference.
