Cowboys Destroy Browns After Securing Contract With Dak Prescott

CLEVELAND – The direct deposit hadn’t yet hit Dak Prescott’s bank account on Sunday when he was already throwing dimes for touchdowns on the day he, once again, cashed in for playing the most important position in professional sports on the most valuable team in the world.

The Dallas Cowboys quarterback agreed to a four-year, $240 million contract extension, and his $60 million average annual value is the richest in NFL history. He has $231 million guaranteed — $1 million more than the previous record for guaranteed money, given to his opponent Sunday, Deshaun Watson of the Cleveland Browns.

And on Dallas’ second drive of the game, with the team trailing 3-0 in the first quarter, Prescott showed why Jerry Jones had so much invested in him by catching a pinpoint pass up the right sideline to his favorite target, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. With his team on the verge of scoring, Prescott held on as long as he could in the face of an all-out blitz and threw another perfectly executed pass across the Browns’ secondary to Brandin Cooks for his first touchdown.

The Cowboys went on to win 33-17 over the Browns, who struggled to move the ball meaningfully.

Prescott and the Cowboys’ offense weren’t firing on all cylinders all afternoon. In the entire third quarter, when the Cowboys ran just 12 plays, Prescott was 2-for-6 for 5 passing yards.

But that was more than fine on this day. Prescott completed 19 of 32 with 179 passing yards and a touchdown to Cooks.
