Justin Reid Reveals Biggest Threat to KC Chiefs’ Triple Win

Over the past few seasons, the Kansas City Chiefs have shown that no one can dethrone them when they play their best brand of football. Regardless of regular season or playoffs, there is always a significant ceiling for the NFL’s back-to-back champions.

The same is still true one week into the 2024-25 campaign. While the football world won’t know who the real contenders and contenders are for a few weeks, a select group of clubs are expected to battle it out for AFC supremacy. Teams like the Cincinnati Bengals, Baltimore Ravens, Houston Texans and Buffalo Bills all have reasons to be picked as potential top challengers to the Chiefs.

Who’s the best of the bunch? Appeared in a recent episode of Up and AdamsSafety Justin Reid weighed in on the competition for Kansas City. Reid believes that even with all due respect to his opponents, the Chiefs can be their own worst enemies by beating themselves.

“Honestly, I don’t think anybody has a chance against us as long as we play our brand of ball,” Reid said. “I think our biggest enemies are going to be ourselves and staying true to the process, never relaxing, never taking our foot off the pedal and just keeping everybody as healthy as possible so we’re ready to go for the postseason. I think as long as we keep ourselves in the game (and) don’t think anything is going to be given to us, I don’t think anybody can really challenge us.”

The sentiment that the Chiefs are beating themselves up isn’t new. It’s rare that Andy Reid’s team plays a great game and still comes away with a loss. It’s a context that could be applied to all 32 teams, but Kansas City’s built-in talent and coaching advantages usually give them a greater margin for error. When that margin is met or exceeded, the focus often shifts from what the opponent did right to what the Chiefs did wrong.

It’s hard to trust anyone other than Patrick Mahomes and company in an all-or-nothing situation. Assuming good health and a solid regular season, many expect the Chiefs to be in the thick of the action well into the winter. While there are foes worth considering, Reid makes a good point by joining a process that’s becoming more testing with each passing year.
