Brandon Aiyuk didn’t exactly get off to a positive start to the 2024 season.

The San Francisco 49ers wide receiver struggled during the team’s 32-19 victory over the New York Jets on Monday Evening Footballwhere he made two receptions for 28 yards on five targets.

With the 49ers leading 13-7 and trying to score a touchdown just before halftime, Brock Purdy threw a pass to Aiyuk in the corner of the end zone. The ball hit the 26-year-old’s hands, though he couldn’t get down with it and San Francisco had to settle for a field goal.

Aiyuk dropped two passes in the first half after dropping just two passes in his entire 2023 season.

Fans were disappointed with his performance after he signed his massive four-year, $120 million contract extension on August 29.

Aiyuk waited through San Francisco’s training camp for a new contract, giving him less time to get on the same page with Purdy ahead of the team’s season opener.

Aiyuk will look to find some consistency in San Francisco’s Week 2 game against the Minnesota Vikings.
