49ers vs. Jets 2nd Quarter Thread: Both Offenses Feel Close to Breakout

The 49ers feel fortunate to be down only 7-3 after one quarter. Fred Warner forced a fumble and gave the Niners great field position, but Jake Brendel was ejected and San Francisco had to settle for a field goal.

That was a decent quarter for a mere 7-3 score. The Jets went 3-for-4 on third down and could have easily been perfect if Allen Lazard hadn’t dropped an open pass. But the 49ers won’t be complaining about that. They will, however, have to guard Garrett Wilson on obvious passing downs. That, and stop Breece Hall.

The 49ers offense feels like it’s on the verge of opening itself up. The blocking improved on third down of its third drive. But an odd call — a reverse pass to Brock Purdy — when it only needed five yards forced a field goal of 51 yards.

Don’t forget Jordan Mason, Kyle.
