A police officer who arrested Tyreek Hill had no idea he was a star receiver

Bodycam footage from Tyreek Hill’s arrest prior to the Dolphins’ season opener on Sunday showed officers discussing his profession.

An officer who appeared to be examining Hill’s ID asked his colleague about the behavior of the recipient in the clip, who was lying face down on the ground nearby, handcuffed for allegedly speeding ahead of Miami’s victory over Jacksonville on Sunday.

“Why is he acting like that?” an officer asked, as Hill shouted in the background. “Do you know who that is?”

Warning: Graphic language

The other officer replied, “No?”

“That’s one of the Dolphins’ star players,” the officer said, pointing in Hill’s direction.

“Oh yeah? F-ck,” said the other officer.

Multiple officers were on scene when Hill was arrested and detained outside Hard Rock Stadium while en route to the start of a new season.

The South Florida Police Benevolent Association said in a statement that Hill was pulled over for “driving in a manner that placed himself and others in grave danger.”

According to the PBA, Hill was then handcuffed for “not immediately cooperating.”

Hill received two citations as a result of his traffic stop, including for reckless driving and not wearing a seat belt, ESPN’s Jeff Darlington reported Monday.

The 30-year-old wideout previously explained that he did not know why he was pulled from his vehicle in handcuffs and that he felt he was being respectful to police by doing so.

“It went from 0 to 60, man, the minute those guys pulled up behind me and knocked on my window, it went from 0 to 60 straight away,” Hill told NBC News Monday night.

During the incident, Hill told police, “Okay bro, take me to jail. Do what you gotta do.”

In police body camera footage, officers were heard telling Hill to “stop crying” and “do what we tell him to do.”

Other footage showed an officer knocking on the driver’s side window of his black sports car and telling him to roll down his window.

One of the officers at the scene was suspended and Miami-Dade police launched an internal investigation into the matter on Sunday.

Hill scored an 80-yard touchdown in the Dolphins’ 20-17 win on Sunday and celebrated his handcuffs.

The Dolphins have a short week before they play the Bills at home on Thursday.
