ForbesToday’s NYT ‘Connections’ Tips and Answers for Thursday, September 12

Hey everyone! Happy Friday the 13th! I hope you watch a horror movie tonight if you’re into that sort of thing. I haven’t watched one in a while, so I guess I’ll have to do that.

Today News from the New York Times Connections hints and answers coming soon.

How to play connections

Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. You get a new puzzle every day at midnight. You can play on the News from the New York Times website or Games app.

You are presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to sort them into four groups of four by finding the connections between them. The groups can be things like clickable items, names of participants in a research study, or words preceded by a body part.

There is only one solution to each puzzle, and you have to be careful with words that fit into more than one category. You can shuffle the words to see if there are any connections between the words.

Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the hardest. The purple group often includes puns.

Select four words that you think go together and press Submit. If you guess incorrectly, you lose a life. If you’re close to a correct group, you may see a message that you’re one word away from the correct word, but you still have to figure out which one to swap.

If you make four mistakes, it’s game over. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen with some hints, and if you’re really struggling, the Connections answers. As with Wordle and other similar games you can easily share the results with your friends via social media and group chats.

What are the answers to today’s questions about connections?

Spoiler alert! Do not scroll further down the page until you are ready to view today’s information. Connections answers.

This is your final warning!

Today Connections answers are…

  • Yellow group — vitality (ENERGY, SAP, LIFE, ZIP)
  • Green group — palindromes with “E” (LEVEL, PEP, REFER, TENET)
  • Blue Group — seen in Jack and the Beanstalk (BEANS, COW, GIANT, JACK)
  • Purple group — car models (BEETLE, CIVIC, FOCUS, VOLT)

I continued my streak by getting six wins in a row, but it was a close call!

I could see right away that there was a group of palindromes, but my first two guesses were both one word away from a group. PEP, TENET, CIVIC, and REFER were all off, and swapping PEP for LEVEL didn’t work either. Rather than trying to brute force the answer, it was time to change strategies.

By seeing COW, JACK and GIANT together in a small cluster I could identify the blues. But a guess at ZIP, ENERGY, FOCUS and PEP was way off, especially since PEP, as logic dictated, was one of the palindromes. Fortunately I drew the link between BEETLE and VOLT to get the purples. The greens were next, since CIVIC was out. That left the yellows to win.

That’s all there is to do today Connections clues and answers. Make sure to check out my blog for hints and the solution for Saturday’s game if you need them.

PS I can’t help but highlight Chappell Roan’s Video Music Awards performance. “Good Luck Babe” isn’t my favorite song of hers, but she did a great job. The staging and choreography were top notch. I thoroughly enjoyed this, right down to the final shot with the fans’ hands outstretched.
