Machine Gun Kelly changed his perspective to get sober

Machine Gun Kelly changed his outlook on life to get sober.
The 34-year-old star – whose real name is Colson Baker – revealed in August that he had stopped taking drugs and had not drunk alcohol for a year, explaining that he needed to ‘zoom out’ and focus on the ‘ generational curses’. that he had to tackle to get clean.
He told People magazine: “I had to zoom out and look at myself from a holistic perspective.
“I was born on the 22nd. Twenty-two is a master number. What do I need to master here? I had to ask myself that question.
“What were my generational curses and problems that were passed down to me and my father? Rest in peace.”
The ‘Emo Girl’ hitmaker – who has 13-year-old daughter Casie with former partner Emma Cannon and is dating Megan Fox – found clarity in understanding that his ‘job is to be a good man’.
He added, “I find comfort in knowing that I can punish myself today so I can forgive myself tomorrow.
“I have a daughter that I love with all my heart and would die for. And I have a beautiful family and a beautiful group of friends and a beautiful life to live for. And I’m no longer in a haze of not realizing That.”
The ‘Lonely Road’ singer previously explained that he was going to rehab after his 2023 European tour, but kept it a secret at the time.
He said on the ‘Dumb Blonde’ podcast: “I haven’t told anyone outside of the people closest to me.
“That was the first time I went to rehab. They gave me so many ways to control the body and show me where this anger comes from and methods to suppress it.”
MGK went on to acknowledge that his journey to sobriety is a “constant tightrope walk.”
He said: ‘I met many psychiatrists, some who gave up on me, and many therapists who did the same.
“But eventually I became aware of what my condition is and made peace with it. It’s a constant tightrope walk.”
